The Terminated Products Display feature improves how discontinued products are handled in the webshop.
Instead of showing a standard error page, terminated products remain accessible via their direct URL and display a simplified product detail page with alternative product suggestions. This helps prevent customer dead ends and improves SEO retention.
In this article:
NOTE: This is a display-only feature. It does not change product status, stock management, or ordering capabilities.
Overview
When a customer opens the direct URL of a terminated product (for example, from Google Search or an old bookmark), the webshop will display a Limited Product Detail View instead of the message “Product not available”.
The page informs the customer that the product is no longer available and immediately offers Similar Products to keep the customer engaged.
Limited View Layout
When a user visits the URL of a terminated product, the product detail page automatically switches to a Limited View layout:
Purchasing Disabled – All commercial elements are removed, including:
Add to Cart button | Prices | Availability information | VariantsDesign Tools Disabled – TronLogo (design/printing) buttons, printing options, and download sections are completely removed.
Contact CTA – The primary “Buy” button is replaced with a “Contact Us” button that opens a standard inquiry form.
Alternative-First Hierarchy – The Similar Products section is moved directly below the image gallery to immediately offer replacement options.
Shifted Product Information – Technical parameters and product descriptions are displayed below the Similar Products section.
Safety Fallback
The system includes an automatic integrity check.
If a terminated product contains corrupted or incomplete data (e.g., missing images or broken database records), the webshop will automatically display the standard error page instead of the Limited View layout.
This ensures the storefront remains visually clean and professional.
Important Notes
Search & Navigation – Terminated products remain hidden from category listings and internal webshop search. They are accessible only via direct URLs (e.g., Google results or saved bookmarks).
URL Stability – Product URLs remain unchanged, helping preserve SEO value.
Similar Products Logic – Alternative suggestions follow the existing system logic (automatic by category or manual linking). If no similar products are configured, the page will display only the termination notice and Contact button.
Global Application – Once enabled, the feature applies to terminated products from all suppliers across the platform.
Enabling the Feature (Admin Portal)
Go to: Settings → Visual Settings → Product Detail
Scroll down to the TERMINATED PRODUCTS section
Enable toggle "Display detail of terminated product"
Once enabled, the webshop will display the Limited View layout for all terminated products.
Viewing Terminated Products in Admin Catalog
To find terminated products in the Admin Portal:
Go to: Products → Product Catalog
Enable the filter checkbox: "Display terminated products"
The list will include terminated products and show a new Product State column
NOTE: This filter is for admin visibility only. It does not make terminated products purchasable.
FAQ
Will customers be able to buy terminated products?
No. Terminated products cannot be purchased. The page only provides information and suggests alternative products.
Will terminated products appear in search results or categories?
No. They remain hidden from category listings and internal webshop search. They are only accessible via direct URL.
What if I don't want to show terminated products at all?
Leave the feature disabled (default). Customers will continue to see the standard error page.
Can I control which similar products are suggested?
No. The system uses system's internal Similar Products configuration (automatic by category or manual linking).
What happens if a terminated product has no similar products configured?
Those will not be displayed.
Will this affect my SEO or old product URLs?
Product URLs remain functional, which is better for SEO than showing error pages. Search engines can still access the product page, but without purchase options.
What if the terminated product data is incomplete or corrupted?
The system automatically detects missing or corrupted product data and displays the standard error page instead of a Limited View layout.
Can a customer design a logo on a terminated product?
No. TronLogo and design buttons are disabled to prevent customers from using customization tools for products that cannot be purchased.
Does the terminated product page return "Not found: 404" status code?
No. The page returns a "Success: 200" status to preserve SEO value, but displays the Limited View content instead of purchase options.
