The basics
What's the difference between TronDesigner and TronLogo?
TronLogo shows what a logo looks like on a product, always for one position. TronDesigner produces the print itself – a design carrying the real print position, technology, exact dimensions, and color count, plus a visual proof your customer can download and approve. What they approve is what gets printed.
Can I run both TronDesigner and TronLogo?
No. Your shop runs one visualization tool, or none. Activating TronDesigner switches TronLogo off. Logo data is preserved either way, so switching back later restores it.
Do I need anything special to use TronDesigner?
A valid TronDesigner license and TronCalculator are active on your shop. Pricing always happens in the calculator, so TronDesigner can't work without it. The Visualization add-on is optional – it's what shows logos on your product images.
What's a "print job"?
A design stored in TronDesigner. One print job per order item, covering every motive on that item. Your shop keeps a reference to it – the design itself lives in TronDesigner. That's why turning the integration off never destroys anything.
The product page and the dialog
Why did the design button change to "Create design"?
Because the button now does more than launch a simple editor – it starts a design that becomes a print job. The name reflects that. Once a design exists in the session, the button reads Edit design.
Why do my customers see a dialog before designing?
Because there are two different reasons to design, and they lead to different places:
- Create independent proofreading only – for a customer who wants to see their idea. They design and download a visual proof. Nothing enters the cart.
- Open the calculator and then design – for a customer who wants to buy. Pricing first, then design.
Asking once, up front, means the "just looking" customer isn't puzzled by being asked for quantities, and the "ready to buy" customer doesn't design something they then can't add to their cart.
Why does the dialog sometimes show only one option?
On some products, only one route makes sense – the ones your customers can design but not buy with printing, for example, products that only offer an enquiry. On those, the dialog is framed "Before you start" and offers the design route only. It's not a fault; there's genuinely only one way forward.
Why is the design button grayed out on some products?
The product doesn't meet your Required mockup precision setting – its print data isn't complete enough for the level you chose. The tooltip explains it to your customer. To make more products designable, lower the setting. But then count on more friction for the customer, as the Data Selector will require filling in the missing data.
Why doesn't the design button appear on some products at all?
Products that don't support printing – ones you can never add a print motif to – don't show the active Create design button, regardless of your settings. There's nothing to design.
The Editor
Why can't my customer change the print settings inside the Editor?
Because they launched it after pricing, the Editor opens locked – position, technology, colors, and size are fixed to what they are paying for. Changing them in the Editor would silently change the price of something already in the cart. To change them, they go back through Edit calculation in the cart.
When the Editor is launched before pricing – from the product page – everything is adjustable.
Why is there no "Continue" button when designing without buying?
Because that route doesn't lead anywhere to continue to – it's for producing a visual proof, not placing an order. The exit is downloading the proof.
My customer designed something, and now it's gone. Where is it?
It isn't deleted. If it was a design created without buying and your customer's session ended, what's gone is their route back to it – the design itself is still in TronDesigner, and you can find it there.
Within the same session, your customer can still reach it: the product page button reads Edit design and offers to reopen the previous design or start a new one.
The shopping cart
Why does the cart say the design doesn't match?
Your customer changed their print configuration after designing. The design is fine – it just no longer matches what's now in the order. Hover over the status for the specific reason.
It doesn't block checkout. Your customer can update the design with Edit design, or leave it and let your team resolve it after the order arrives.
Why does the cart show two different status indicators?
Because they answer two different questions:
- The chip at the product printing level answers whether the design matches what was priced.
- The tag on each design answers whether the design itself is sound.
A design can be sound artwork that doesn't match the configuration, and a design can match the configuration while containing errors. Two different problems, two different places to look.
The size in the cart looks wrong.
Check which number you're reading. From your design shows the design's actual size. The calculator shows the maximum size tier allowed. "Up to 50 cm²" and "38 × 24 mm" are both correct – they're just different numbers.
Why can't my customer upload a logo in the cart?
A design already exists on that item, and the logo is managed inside the design. Logo upload is the fallback for items with no design yet – once there's a design, it's disabled, with a tooltip explaining why.
Your orders
Do I still fill in Print Data?
Yes. Print Data is still what goes to your supplier. Creating a print job doesn't replace it – it fills it in for you. Open Print Data on an item with a print job, and you'll find a Data from Print Job section and a button that populates the fields in one click. You review and save.
Does the print job go to my supplier automatically?
No. Print Data is what's sent. If you want your supplier to have the visual proof as well, download it and attach it yourself.
Can I design an order myself?
Yes – any printable order item, including ones where your customer never designed. Use Create Print Job in the order detail. When you send the order for confirmation, your customer can download the same visual proof from their order.
What happens to my old orders?
Nothing changes. Turning TronDesigner on never rewrites or migrates an existing order – client data and print data stay exactly as they were. Logos uploaded before you had TronDesigner stay viewable and downloadable; you can grab the file and re-apply it in the Editor if you want to.
If I remove a print job, is it deleted?
No – it's unlinked from the order. The print job stays in TronDesigner with its order reference intact. The item goes back to offering Create Print Job.
Turning it off and on
If I turn TronDesigner off, do I lose anything?
No, but you cannot further work with print jobs. Your orders do not display and print job details; the print jobs themselves stay in TronDesigner, and Remove still works. Print job actions go disabled, with tooltips. Print Data keeps working, so you can still handle and send orders.
And when I turn it back on?
Everything reconnects automatically. No relinking, no reconfiguring. Your print jobs reattach to their designs, and your orders pick up where they were.
Troubleshooting
The design button isn't showing on my shop
Check, in order:
- Is TronDesigner active? Settings → Integrations → Visualizations.
- Is Allow Editor launch from webshop frontend on? If not, nothing on the frontend works.
- Is the Show Editor launch button on product detail page on?
- Do you have the Visualization add-on with its display set to Hidden? The add-on's settings control the button on the product page and override the toggle above.
- Does the product meet your Required mockup precision setting? If not, a grayed-out button is the correct behavior.
- Is the customer a guest with guest access off? Then a disabled button with a login tooltip is correct. (depending on Allow Editor for guest users setting)
The designer option is missing from the calculator
Allow Editor launch from webshop frontend is off. When it's off, the designer option is hidden from the calculator entirely – by design. Turn it on.
The Editor won't load on my shop
Usually, your shop's domain needs re-authorising – most often after a URL change or moving from staging to production. Go to Settings → Integrations → Visualizations and click Activate again. It re-authorises your current domain.
I added the Visualization add-on and nothing changed
License changes aren't picked up by an already-running integration. Deactivate and reactivate TronDesigner. Nothing is lost.
