This article covers working with print jobs in the admin portal – what you see on an order, how to create a design yourself, and what still goes to your supplier. It's intended for shop administrators.

What a print job is
A print job is a design stored in TronDesigner, holding everything needed to print it: position, technology, exact dimensions, color count, the logo, and an option to generate a visual proof PDF.
- One print job per item. It covers every motif on that item – a product printed in three places has one print job containing three designs.
- Your shop stores a reference, not the file. The design lives in TronDesigner. That's why turning the integration off never destroys anything.
- Removing a print job unlinks it. It isn't deleted – it stays in TronDesigner with its order reference intact.
What you see on an order
The Product Printing group header shows the print job number and one chip: green when the designs match the print specifications, orange when they don't. This validates whether the print option, logo size, and colors from TronCalculator match those that are in the TronDesigner print job.
Each design carries its own tag – Design valid, Design warning, or Design error – with a tooltip covering both the spec match and the artwork itself. Alongside it: the values pulled from the design (position, technology, actual size, actual colors), a preview image, and the Client data (active if there is no print job and the client uploaded a logo) and Print data links.
Even a design with errors still shows its logo and size – only the tag and tooltip flag the problem, so you can still see what you're dealing with.
When there's no print job, the product Printing Group has a "No print job" chip and offers a single "Create Print Job" action.
The actions
- Create Print Job – only when there's no print job. Opens the Editor.
- Open in Editor – opens the existing print job in the Editor for editing.
- Manage Print Job – opens the print job detail in TronDesigner, in a new tab, already logged in.
- Download PDF Proof – pulls the visual proof PDF from the print job.
- Delete – unlinks the print job from the item.
Creating a print job yourself
You can design any order item – including ones your customer never designed.
The customer already priced the printing
The item has motif rows with calculator data but no print job. Click Create Print Job. The Editor opens with everything the order already knows, locked to those specifications. Design, save, and the print job appears on the item with its number, chip, details, and previews.
The calculator doesn't run again – it already did when your customer priced it.
The item has no printing at all
Click Add Print Motive at the item level. The calculator opens first to price the printing, then Create Print Job opens the Editor over it. Price first, then design – the same pattern as your shop.
Add Print Motive is unavailable on products that can't be printed, and a tooltip explains why.
Editing
Click Open in Editor. The existing print job opens; save your changes, and the item updates. To change the specifications – variants, quantities, position, technology – go through the calculator instead. The calculator prices, the Editor designs.
Print Data and your supplier
Creating a print job does not replace Print Data. Print Data is still what goes to your supplier. What the print job adds is a shortcut for filling it in.
Open Print Data on an item with a print job, and you'll find:
- a Data from Print Job section showing the design's real values,
- a Populate with print job data button that fills the fields in one click.
You review, you save, and your supplier gets what they always got. Different suppliers have different requirements, so the populate button is a shortcut rather than a guarantee – it fills in what the design knows, and you check it's what your supplier needs.
On items without a print job, Print Data works exactly as it always has.
Removing a print job
Click the delete icon at the product printing level and confirm. The print job is unlinked from the item, and the item goes back to offering Create Print Job. The print job itself isn't deleted – it stays in TronDesigner with its order reference.
Older orders
Nothing was migrated. Turning TronDesigner on never rewrites an existing order – print data and client data stay exactly as it was.
Client data uploaded before you had TronDesigner stays viewable and downloadable. It isn't preloaded into the Editor: old client data comes from before print jobs existed, and pulling it into a design would mean assuming it's still the right logo. You decide.
Create Print Job works normally on these orders.
If you turn TronDesigner off
Nothing is deleted.
- Your orders do not display any print job details anymore.
- The print jobs themselves stay in TronDesigner.
- Print job actions are disabled, with a tooltip explaining why. Remove still works.
- Print Data stays fully available, so you can still handle orders and send them to your supplier.
Turning it back on reconnects everything automatically – no relinking, no reconfiguring.
