This article walks through the technical setup of the TronDesigner–TronManager integration. It's intended for administrators with access to TronManager settings.
By the end of this article, you'll have the integration activated, default permissions configured, and know where to find the new controls in your offers.
Requirements
Before activating the integration, you need:
- An active TronManager instance.
- An active TronDesigner instance linked to the same organization as your TronManager. The license must include the TronManager integration.
- Administrator access in TronManager Settings.
- A user account with TronDesigner permissions for advanced configuration (Editor Behavior, Print Jobs, Logos).
If your TronDesigner license is not active or your plan doesn't include the TronManager integration, activation will not succeed.
Step 1 — Activate the integration
- In TronManager, go to Settings → Integration.
- Click the button Activate TronDesigner Integration.
- The system automatically validates your TronDesigner license.
Settings → Integration page with activation button and intro text
Once activated, TronManager automatically creates two API keys in TronDesigner:
- Admin Portal API Key — enables design features in your admin area (the catalog palette icon, the Create Design button in offer groups, etc.).
- Customer Portal (Offer) API Key — enables design features your customers see in the offer preview.
TronDesigner admin portal --> API Keys page
Both keys are validated automatically. Admin doesn’t have to do anything. Keys in TronDesigner are read-only.
When the connection is ready, you'll see a green status message in the top right, and Customer Portal settings become available.
Integration settings
If activation fails, the admin is prompted to contact sales:
If TronDesigner is not active
If TronDesigner doesn't include the TronManager feature
Step 2 — Configure default permissions for your customers
Once the connection is established, the Global Settings – Customer Portal section becomes editable. This is where you set the default permissions that apply to all new offers.
You have five parameters:
| Parameter | What it does |
| Show Print Design | Controls whether the Print Design section appears in offer previews at all. Acts as a master switch — if turned off, the other controls are automatically disabled. |
| Create Design | Let´s customers create a new design for products with full print data. |
| Edit Design | Let´s customers modify an existing design. |
| Download PDF Proofreading | Let´s customers download the technical PDF proof for any group with a design. |
| Remove Design | Let´s remove an existing design. The Print Job stays in the TronDesigner and can be accessed only there. The relation to the offer and group in TronManager is deleted. |
By default, all five parameters are enabled. To save the configuration, you have to click Save. You can uncheck the ones you don't want and then click Save.

*Parameters are checked by default only at the first activation.
Dependency rules:
- If Show Print Design is off, the other four are automatically off (and locked).
- If Create Design is on, Edit Design is automatically on (and locked) — because once a customer creates a design, the button becomes "Edit" on the next visit.
Step 3 — Override permissions for individual offers (optional)
The global settings apply to all new offers, but each offer can have its own overrides.
- Open any offer.
- Click Edit offer settings.
- Find the Print Design section.
-
For each parameter, choose:
- Default — follows whatever the global setting currently is. If the global setting changes later, this offer follows automatically.
- Yes — explicitly enabled for this offer, regardless of the global setting.
- No — explicitly disabled for this offer, regardless of the global setting.
The same dependency rules apply to overrides: if you override Show Print Design to "No", the other four automatically become "No" and lock until you change Show Print Design back.

In the offer header, each parameter displays its current value with a clear indicator: "Default (Yes)" if following the global setting, or "Overridden (No)" if explicitly overridden for this offer.

Step 4 — Customize Editor behavior (optional)
The Editor itself — the design tool that opens when you or your customer clicks "Create Design" or "Edit Design" — can be configured separately for admins and customers.
In the TronDesigner Admin Portal in Print Editor → Behavior, the Editor behavior can be set. The links from the TronManager Integration page → Editor Behavior will take you there:
- Configure Editor Behavior for Admin Portal — opens TronDesigner with the Admin Portal API key pre-selected. Here you can configure the result action after final confirmation, what file formats are allowed for logo uploads, and more.
- Configure Editor Behavior for Customer Portal — opens TronDesigner with the Customer Portal API key pre-selected. Use this to set up a different Editor experience for your customers — for example, allowing less strict rules to save the design, or allowing more logo formats to be uploaded, and more.

In TronDesigner, make sure to uncheck the ‘Use Global Settings’ toggle when you want different rules for admin and customer portals. Always click Save to apply your changes.

If you don't have permissions to modify these settings in TronDesigner, contact your TronDesigner account owner.
Step 5 — Use the integration in your offers
After setup, you'll see new design controls throughout TronManager:
In the TronCloud catalog:
- A palette icon appears on each product card. Click it to design directly from the catalog — useful for ad-hoc designs not linked to any specific offer.
- A new Mockups Availability filter lets you find products with full print data available.

In any offer (admin view):
- Each TronCloud product group now has a Print Design section.
- For groups without a design: a Create Design button.
- For groups with a design: print job details, plus buttons to Manage Print Job (opens the print job in TronDesigner), Edit Design, Download PDF Proofreading, and Remove Print Job from the Group.
- When loading an Editor from the offer detail, the logo is preloaded from the group or offer level. It is always possible to change if needed directly in the Editor.

Print Job in TronDesigner has a reference to the TronManager offer code and product code
In the offer group edit pop-up: When you open a group's edit pop-up (the "Edit" button on the group), and the group has a print job assigned:
- The logo section is replaced by Print Design controls: Edit Design and Remove Design, with the same behavior as in the offer detail at the group level.
-
The product image gallery is automatically populated with all preview
images from the print job, placed at the beginning of the gallery before
any existing product images. You can:
- Reorder images by drag-and-drop
- Set any image as the primary (first position)
- Remove individual images you don't want shown
- These gallery images are what your customer sees as product previews on the Customer Portal.

In the sidebar menu (admin portal view):
- A new Print Design section appears with two links: Print Jobs and Logos. These take you directly to the respective areas in TronDesigner (you'll be logged in automatically).

*Section is visible for admins, who have the permissions in TronDesigner to the stated pages
Note on opening TronDesigner from TronManager: clicking links that open TronDesigner (Manage Print Job, Print Jobs, Logos, Editor Behavior in TronDesigner) opens a new browser tab and signs you in automatically.
Troubleshooting
The activation button is disabled. Your TronDesigner license may not be active or your current plan may not include the TronManager integration. Check your license validity in TronDesigner, or contact your sales representative.
The Create Design button is grayed out on the customer portal. This means the product doesn't have full print data available (less than 100% mockup data), or it's an "own product" not from the TronCloud catalog. Designs for these products need to be prepared by the admin.
The integration was working, but now nothing happens when I click the design buttons. Your TronDesigner license may have expired, or the TronManager feature of your plan may have changed. Check Settings → Integration for current status. If everything looks correct but issues persist, contact support.
My customer can't see the Print Design section in the offer preview. Check that Show Print Design is enabled — either globally or for this specific offer. This parameter must be on for any of the design features to appear on the customer side.
I edited the print job directly in TronDesigner, but the change isn't showing in my offer in TronManager. Edits made to a print job from inside TronDesigner are not automatically synced back to the offer in TronManager. To make sure changes are reflected in your offer, use the Edit Design button on the offer group (or group edit) in TronManager — this opens the same Editor, and any changes you save here will update both the offer and the print job.
Deactivation
You can deactivate the integration at any time. In Settings → Integration, click the ‘Deactivate’ button. The print jobs you've created remain stored in TronDesigner — they're not deleted — and you can reactivate the integration later to access them again.
When the integration is deactivated:
- The palette icons in the TronCloud catalog product cards become inactive.
- The whole print design section is not displayed on the customer portal. Only the existing print job previews are still displayed on the customer portal as product images (until print job removal).
- For offers with print jobs, it is possible only to remove the print job.
- New designs can't be created until the integration is reactivated. Existing designs can't be edited either.
