This article will help you add products to your defined categories.
Step 1: Go to products > Categories.
Here, find the category where you want to change the displayed product assortment.
On the right side of the category name, click the "..." button and select "Edit".
This will open the Category settings.
Step 2: Go to the tab "Product selection":
Here you have two main possibilities:
- Product selection using filters
- Product Collection
PRODUCT COLLECTION
This option allows you to assign a previously created "Product Collection" or create a new one.
More about how to create the collections you can find in the following article: Product & Category Collections
Clicking on “Product category” will open a pop-up.
Here you can either choose an existing collection or quickly create a new one.
PRODUCT SELECTION USING FILTERS
When you select “Product selection using filters,” you will see three filters available.
These filters work together, not separately — this means all conditions must be met at the same time.
Using them in combination helps you make a more precise and targeted product selection.
1. Categories: Here you can define the category defined by the Supplier. Clicking on the "Plus" button will open the category tree in a new pop-up window.
Here you can select which products will be added to the category, based on the category that the supplier has assigned to their products. In other words, for example, if you want to include all T-shirts from all your suppliers, you can select the matching product category.
*You can select multiple categories or subcategories. You can also use the search bar to find them faster.
After you choose the category, click "SAVE":
Now you can see in the preview what category was selected:
2. Product Filters
This filter allows you to add an extra condition for selecting products.
For example, let’s continue with T-shirts. You already selected the product group using the Categories filter. Now, let's say we want to include only cotton T-shirts; So we can use this filter to choose the Material type.
As a result of using these two filters together, only T-shirts and Poloshirts (selected with the Categories filter)
that are made of Cotton (selected with the Product filter) will be included in the category.
PLEASE TAKE ATTENTION
Even though there is a wide range of product attributes available, not all suppliers provide this data for their products. Because of that, these filters may not always work reliably or return complete results.
3. Suppliers
You can also limit which products are shown in a category by using the Supplier filter.
You can use this filter on its own — in that case, all products from the selected supplier (that you have imported to your shop) will be shown in the category.
Or you can use it together with other filters.
For example, if you have chosen T-shirts in the Categories filter and then select a Supplier, the category will include only T-shirts from that supplier.
PLEASE NOTE
It may take a moment for the changes you made to appear in the shop. For quick access, you can return to the Category list, click the three dots next to the category, and choose “Open in browser”.
